Good Grief

I've missed the last few weeks posting due to an unexpected death in my family. My stepmom, whom I, my sister, and father adored, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep two weeks ago. She was only 64 years old and had had a bout of the flu. My dad found her in the morning as he was waking her up to take her to the doctor. It's been a lot to adjust to, even with all of the spiritual work I've done and my knowledge that death is not the end of the soul. I still miss her, and my father has understandably been distraught. Come as You Are

I’ve just arrived at my sister’s house today after traveling halfway across the country for Thanksgiving. I’m so happy to be here! My family, her family, our parents, brothers and sisters-in-law are coming together to celebrate the holiday. As our families come together this week, it has made me think about how valuable and important it is to accept people for who they are. No family is perfect, and no person is perfect, but each one is who they’re meant to be.   Of course, I’ve grown in this area, and self-care is still important.
