Peace in my Heart

I love reading books about others’ Near Death Experiences because they truly show how peaceful and full of love our true reality is, even when many indications seem to point to the contrary. Had I not also had my own Spiritually Transformative Experience, I would likely doubt it myself. Thankfully, I saw how our world is permeated with love, light, and peace, and so have many others.

Which is why the events of the past week have been so jarring. Seeing the war unfold in Ukraine goes against everything I’ve known about who we really are. I truly believe as a species we are evolving, and we will evolve, into a peaceful species, but it certainly hasn’t happened yet. Many of us are evolving individually and embracing the love that we are at our core, but it hasn’t yet been enough for the whole world to live in love and peace. Even though this can be a depressing thought, I am heartened by knowing that small acts make a big difference.

My monthly book recommendation, a classic NDE account by Dannion Brinkley, illustrates this so well. In his NDE, as in most NDE accounts I’ve read, he undergoes a life review in which he experiences all the pain he has caused to others, as well as all the love. Having been in the military, he experiences how every death he caused affected that person’s family and those around them. He even sees how weapons he helped ship to another country were used in battle to hurt and kill others, and how that affected their families too.

In anguish, he is completely forgiven, and is told, “Humans are powerful spiritual beings meant to create good on the earth. This good isn’t usually accomplished in bold actions, but in singular acts of kindness between people. It’s the little things that count because they are more spontaneous and show who you truly are.”

He understands then that “the amount of love and good feelings you have at the end of your life is equal to the love and good feelings you put out during your life.He comprehends this truth as the “simple secret” to improving humanity, and I have to agree.

While I know it can’t stop the war or any other problems on our planet, whatever we can do does make a difference. I believe in the power of prayer and good energy sent to places that need it. I also believe we can do small acts of charity and kindness that can ripple out into the world, as well as really big ones of course! What you do matters. Take some time to pray and send loving energy to the situation in Ukraine, and if you feel called to do more, you can find some more ways to help here.

Sending all my love, have a great month.
